We are just days away from the 2024 Elimination Chamber. The excitement is at an all-time high as the confirmed match card looks compelling. Fans would get the next contender to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40. Not only that, fans would also get to know who will get to face either Nia Jax or Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40 for the WWE Women’s World Champion. Apart from that Damian Priest and Finn Balor will face the British String Style for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship title.
While the confirmed match card does look exciting, let’s not forget how WWE often has surprise appearances. While his appearance is not confirmed, here are a couple of reasons why Dwayne Johnson will be available at the Elimination Chamber in Perth.
Dwayne Johnson has other future commitments
The Rock is more than invested in the WWE right now. His involvement with the Bloodline and Cody Rhodes is something that will go on for a few more months and is not a one-off thing. However, we also cannot ignore the fact that Johnson is a very busy man. The United Football League which is partly owned by Johnson, will be starting their first season on March 30. To be available for the preparations, Johnson might appear at the 2024 EC and might take some time off so that he could work on the UFL’s inaugural season.
Apart from that, Hollywood Rock’s biggest rival, Cody Rhodes will be there at the Elimination Chamber. In case you missed it, Grayson Waller’s The Grayson Waller Effect is back and the guests will be Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. Also in last week’s episode of SmackDown, Waller was seen entering the locker room of Bloodline, hinting at a possible alliance.
It could be possible that the Bloodline might be pulling the strings and Waller is nothing but a pawn. The Arrogant Aussie might manipulate the situation in such a way that might put Rhodes and Rollins in a bad light and Johnson will come out to confront them.
However, it is not just fans or the situation that wants Johnson to be there at EC 2024. Some major stakeholders are also interested in bringing him on board.
The Rock’s appearance was specifically requested
One of the major stakeholders in organizing the 2024 Elimination Chamber is Tourism Australia. In emails recovered by The Sunday Times, something ended up catching the attention of fans. One of the emails mentioned, “What ability does the host have to dictate key talent to participate in a standalone premium live event? For example, could we aim to secure WWE alumni such as Dwayne Johnson?”
Now that Johnson has taken an important role behind the curtains, he might want to fulfill the demands of the organizations involved as WWE is planning to expand its PLEs to international territories.
