Cody Rhodes’ continues to be one of the biggest babyfaces the promotion has seen, with the crowd largely backing him up. But now, not only the fans who advocate for Cody Rhodes’ dream spot in the WrestleMania main event but also veterans like Bully Ray see it as a completely justified call to hand Rhodes his deserved shot against Roman Reigns. In fact, he framed an ideal reply to Dwayne Johnson on why Rhodes is a worthy addition to the main event of WrestleMania 40.
Bully Ray made it easy for Cody Rhodes to shut The Rock up with a factful firing
Since the shattering outcome of last year’s WrestleMania main event, it seemed as though Cody Rhodes has been supposed to go after his unfulfilled dream in Philadelphia this year, looking Roman Reigns straight in the eyes. But then the wild card entry of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson into the scene made things a total mess. When he was almost ousted from the spot, the rampant endorsement of fans worked like magic, leading to his replanting in the storyline. But Johnson kept on whining and ranting about it on the TV. To his clarity, former WWE star Bully Ray noted, ”Cody looks like a Schmuck because all Cody has to do there is a look at Rock and go, and beg for a rematch. … didn’t beg for a rematch. I earned my rematch. I won the Royal Rumble two years in a row, you know, with guys like Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. Did you ever win it back-to-back Rock? ”
It is his idea of negating The Rock with pure facts. However, despite pitching a perfect response to The Rock, Ray thinks it will be wise for the American Nightmare not to engage in a promo battle.
Bully Ray still deems The Rock superior with a mic in his hand
The Rock is arguably the greatest talker in the history of the business. There was barely anyone who could even come close to The Great One with a mic in hand. His impeccable throwing of catchphrases and other traces saw him ace his endeavors in Hollywood as well. So Ray has a valid point when he warned Rhodes to be aware of The Rock’s prowess on the mic. Nevertheless, it isn’t that Ray downplayed Rhodes’ mic skill. Rather he simply asked him to watch his steps as The Rock in mic is absolutely unbeatable.
It will be interesting to track the further developments in the Cody Rhodes-The Rock storyline on the road to WrestleMania.
