On the February 2nd edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes sparked controversy by giving up his WrestleMania 40 main event position to The Rock, which drew significant criticism. However, the narrative took an unexpected turn during the WrestleMania 40 kickoff press conference, injecting a considerable amount of drama into the storyline. Since then, developments have unfolded, with The Rock seemingly aligning himself with Roman Reigns, adding layers to the ongoing narrative.
Fans are thrilled at the prospect of a potential clash between The Rock and Roman Reigns, but they expressed concern about it overshadowing Cody Rhodes’ storyline. Despite initial indications of heading in that direction, cooler heads prevailed, and fans can now anticipate Cody Rhodes facing off against Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40. However, it appears even The Rock or John Cena can’t get close to beating a major Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania record.
John Cena And The Rock Will Never Accomplish This Roman Reigns WrestleMania Feat
Roman Reigns is the current WWE Undisputed Universal Champion and has been a champion for almost 1300 days at this point in time. He is already viewed as one of the Greatest of All Time and it is not difficult to see why.
As pointed out by WrestingWorldCC on Twitter, Roman Reigns will have main evented WrestleMania 9 times once he finishes competing on Night One and Night Two of WrestleMania 40 next month. Roman Reigns has main evented WrestleMania 31, 32, 33, 34, 37, 38, and 39 and will main event both nights of WrestleMania 40 as mentioned above.
Therefore, not even The Rock or John Cena have no chance of ever getting close to Roman Reigns’ record of WrestleMania main events.
A Huge WrestleMania Match Concerning The Rock And Roman Reigns Was Confirmed Recently
On a recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock appeared with the clear intention of dismantling Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. However, his plan faced some hiccups in some ways.
The confrontation finally took place between The Rock, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins on this week’s episode of SmackDown. After weeks of exchanging verbal jabs both on WWE programming and social media, the highly anticipated meeting took place.
As Cody and Seth made their way to the ring through the WWE Universe, Rock and Roman stood ready for their arrival. Cody quickly got to the point, but The Rock interrupted, reminiscing about the stipulations attached to accepting the challenge. Seth Rollins interjected, declaring that The Rock’s prime had passed and he couldn’t lay claim to their era, ultimately accepting the match for WrestleMania Night 1.
Unfazed, The People’s Champion reminded the duo of his authority and launched personal attacks at Cody, referencing a 20-year age gap among Rhodes’ siblings and labeling him a mistake for his family. Frustrated by the comments, Cody hit back by emulating The Rock and delivering a resounding slap across his face as SmackDown concluded, seeking revenge for a previous incident at the WrestleMania 40 kick-off press event.
It was already made official that Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins will be squaring off against The Rock and Roman Reigns in a tag team match at WrestleMania 40 Night One, so we’ll have to wait and see who will prevail in the end.
