Dwayne Johnson is one of the biggest wrestlers turned actors no doubt. After years of absence in the ring, the Hollywood superstar is expected to make a comeback in WrestleMania 40, probably alongside his cousin Roman Reigns in a possible tag match or against him.
Ever since Johnson has been teasing his return to the world of wrestling, the actor has been incredibly supportive of his cousin, the tribal chief and current top-tier wrestler in WWE. However, his recent appearance on SmackDown has caused a bit of an uproar due to his hand symbol.
Dwayne Johnson’s Hand Symbol Confuses Fans
Dwayne Johnson appeared on SmackDown ahead of his potential return in the upcoming WrestleMania 40. After repeatedly teasing his return and hinting that he might go head-to-head with his cousin Roman Reigns inside the ring, the actor publically acknowledged him as the Tribal Chief during his appearance on SmackDown.
However, fans seemed to have found certain problems regarding the hand symbol that the Rock made while standing along with the other Bloodline members. All the Bloodline members have to raise their hands with their index fingers raised as per the custom. However the TKO board member, subtle for one fleeting moment made the L-shaped hand symbol while raising his hands.
The L-shaped hand gesture or the one-finger gun, has been long associated with his apparent rival, Cody Rhodes, who is also slated to have one of the biggest fights of his career against Reigns in the next installment of Wrestle Mania. Johnson’s L-shaped gesture has triggered fans, leaving many of them confused since the actor brutally roasted Rhodes during his SmackDown appearance (see Daily Mail).
Many fans have also been speculating that the Great One might not remain loyal to his cousin and instead might be scheming along with Rhodes, with their feud only being a publicity event for attracting fans.
Fans React To Dwayne Johnson’s Confusing Hand Gesture
Dwayne Johnson has apparently confirmed that he is in the Roman Reigns camp while on SmackDown. While fans are excited and geared up for the upcoming WrestleMania 40, many have been left confused seeing Johnson’s confusing hand gesture while alongside his fellow Bloodline members.
The L-shaped hand symbol, commonly associated with Cody Rhodes, has fans crying foul play and have begun doubting Johnson’s intentions. After the incident went viral, this is how fans reacted on the internet:
While some fans reckoned that it does not mean anything, things will get really spiced up if Rock does end up betraying Reigns, possibly kicking off another storyline or feud.
WrestleMania 40 begins on April 6 and can be streamed on Peacock.
