Since taking over as creative director of Mugler at the close of 2017, Casey Cadwallader has transformed the fashion brand into the label du jour for headline-grabbing pop icons.

See Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion in custom acid-green and purple designs for the “WAP” video; Miley Cyrus in a shimmering mirror dress from the house’s autumn/winter 2020 collection at the VMAs; and Beyoncé and Blue Ivy in matching rainbow dresses in Black Is King – not to mention the bespoke mesh look Beyoncé wears on the cover of British Vogue’s December 2020 issue.

“At Mugler, I am focused on delivering a new type of Sєxiness and boldness to women, one where they choose how they want to project themselves,” Cadwallader told Vogue of his vision in September. “It’s about a range of possibilities, from chic and tailored, to fully decadent.” His latest sartorial coup? Creating a bespoke skin-tight jumpsuit for Dua Lipa’s virtual pop spectacular Studio2054 on 27 November, complete with guest appearances from Elton John, FKA Twigs, and Kylie Minogue.

Lipa performed her chart-topping mega hit “Don’t Start Now” – recently nominated for Record and Song of the Year at the Grammys – in the crystal-embellished design, the latest (and most elaborate) piece she’s worn from the house. Among her other stand-out Mugler looks recently? The sheer beaded dress and matching gloves seen in the “Levitating” video, and the provocative cut-out jumpsuit from the spring/summer 2020 collection that the “Future Nostalgia” singer chose for her performance at the MTV European Music Awards in 2019.

And while her Mugler outfit may have stolen the limelight at Studio2054, Lipa’s stylist Lorenzo Posocco also treated fans to a range of other eye-catching looks. After taking a seashell-covered dress from Versace’s spring/summer 2021 collection for a test-drive during the American Music Awards, the 25-year-old chose an embellished “Versacepolis” bustier for a duet with Belgian songstress Angèle. And bringing a touch of Roaring Twenties glamour to Lipa’s ’70s-inspired club night?
