What Cristiano Ronaldo did in the 92nd minute to save Al-Nassr vs Al-Fateh

At the third time of asking, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his first goal for new club Al-Nassr.

In his first two appearances for the Saudi Arabian outfit against Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner failed to make the net bulge.

So the onus was on him to deliver the goods in the team’s league match away at Al-Fateh on Friday evening.

And things weren’t looking too good for Ronaldo in the scoring department for quite some time.

In the first half, the 37-year-old was guilty of a shocking miss, soon after he’d had a goal disallowed for offside.

How’s your luck…

Ouch. Anderson Talisca was on hand to spare his teammate’s blushes before the break by equalising, but Al-Nassr then fell 2-1 behind in the second half.

So it looked for all the world that Ronaldo’s new team were on course for another defeat.

But in stoppage-time, Al-Nassr were awarded a penalty, which gave Ronaldo the perfect opportunity to silence the doubters and reach 820 career goals.

And he certainly took that opportunity. It was top notch spot kick from the Portugal international, which you feel will be the first of many he scores in Saudi Arabia.

Is it going to be the start of a scoring spree for Ronaldo? Given what he’s achieved in the past, it may very well be.

Ronaldo’s scoring records at club level

Al-Nassr are the fifth professional club Ronaldo has scored for in his glittering career, the other four being Sporting Lisbon, Manchester UnitedReal Madrid and Juventus.

At Real Madrid, the supremely-gifted forward recorded numbers almost beyond the comprehension of mere mortals.

In 438 games for the Spanish giants across all competitions, Ronaldo bagged 450 goals – and no, that figure is not a typo.

He was pretty darn prolific at Juventus as well, scoring 101 times in 134 appearances.

Oh and we shouldn’t forget that Ronaldo surpassed a century of goals at United too. In fact, he notched 145 across two separate spells.

Not bad, Cristiano.
